-MEET THE FOOTBALL COACHING STAFF-

Head Coach John Hayden 

Coach Hayden is in his 4th season at the helm. Before Clinton, John and his family resided in Bement, where he coached football and taught physical education from 1998 to 2009 (South Piatt Coop). A native of Moweaqua, Illinois, Coach Hayden is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University. He has also had coaching and teaching stints at Buffalo Tri City, Illiopolis, and Central A and M. Coach Hayden served on the A and M staff during their state championship season of 1997. He also has led playoff teams during his tenure at South Piatt. Coach Hayden and wife Jane have three children, Kaitlin, Garrett, and Erik. As well as football, Coach is on the physical education staff at CCHS.

Varsity Defensive Coordinator Aaron Fricke 

Coach Fricke comes to the Maroon coaching staff after spending the past few seasons at the college level, most recently at Illinois College as defensive line coach. While there, Aaron contributed to the Blueboy's 1st NCAA playoff appearance and a school record 9 wins. Coach Fricke attended McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois where he excelled in football. Along with being the Maroon's varsity defensive coach, he will be serving as a teacher's assistant at CCHS. He and his wife Kylie make their home in Lincoln. We welcome Coach Fricke to Clinton.

Assistant Coach Rob Meadors 

Coach Meadors is a native of Clinton. Rob was a four year wrestler as well as a member of the football program, having played on the 2000 playoff team. Rob is in his 2nd year on the CCHS football staff with extensive responsibilities at the JV level. Coach Meadors is also our head wrestling coach. Rob is working as one of Clinton's teaching aides this year. He is also working towards his teaching certification. He and his five year old son, Collin, make their home in Clinton. Coach Meadors is very excited to be coaching and giving back to the programs he enjoyed while in school. Welcome back Coach Meadors!

Assistant Coach Matt Cooper 

Coach Cooper has returned to Clinton after completing his degree from Eureka College. He is in his 2nd year as a member of the CCHS coaching staff. Matt is a 2006 graduate of Clinton, having played football and wrestling for four years. Coach C excelled in wrestling while at Clinton, having qualified as a state finalist. Matt is serving as one of our teacher's aides this school year. His coaching responsibilities include working with the linemen as well as helping at the JV level. We welcome Coach Cooper back to Clinton as a part of Clinton athletics.

Assistant Coach Tom Cerven 

Coach Cerven comes to Clinton via Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Tom is a 2011 history graduate, having also played baseball for the Salukis. Coach Cerven is a native of Minooka, Illinois where he excelled as a 3 sport athlete while in high school. He is our newest member to the CCHS social science department, beginning his first year teaching history. Coach Cerven's multiple football responsibilities include leading the freshmen program for 2012. CCHS welcomes Coach Tom Cerven to the faculty and coaching staff!

Assistant Coach John Shobe 

Coach Shobe is hardly a stranger to Clinton! A 1990 graduate of CCHS, John spent four years serving our country as a member of the Army's 82nd Airborne and combat engineer battalion. Following his impressive military stint, Coach Shobe returned to Clinton where he and his family have lived the past 18 years. Coach Shobe has been very active in Kids' Club wrestling as well as the Clinton JFL program. As a first year CCHS assistant, Coach Shobe will be committing much of his efforts to the freshmen team, along side Coach Cerven. John, and wife Melanie, have two sons, John and Luke. We welcome him to the CCHS football staff and thank him for his service!

  Meet our Trainer, Alyssa Marcotte 

We welcome the Clinton Maroon's new athletic trainer, Alyssa Marcotte! Alyssa grew up in Momence, Illinois near Kankakee. As a student at Momence High School, she was a 3 sport athlete, with a strong emphasis in softball. A recent graduate of Illinois State University, she completed her athletic training program in May of 2012. During her ISU training, she did clinical work for ISU track and field, women's soccer, as well as Wesleyan football and baseball. When not at the school, Alyssa spends part of her day as a therapist at the John Warner Hospital PT department. Clinton High School is pleased to have aboard the athletic training expertise of Alyssa Marcotte.
