Because in the past we have been asked by parents and students what are
the things athletes can do
in the off season to help their performance and skills in track and field.
We have put together a smorgasbord for those of you who would like to look
at different options.
TRACK CAMPS: Track camps are a great place to work on technique and
skills in events like
triple jump, long jump, hurdles, pole vault, shot put and discus.
Unfortunately the camps
change all the time - We do not have a camp we can recommend.
We can tell you the camps going on around our area are:

TRACK CLUBS: These clubs run the
months of June & July and practices are normally 2 days a week.
You can choose the meets you want to attend. cost is approx. $70 to join.
you can be
as serious as you want or as low key as you want.
Flying Dragons Pole Vault Club:
Phone: 309-267-3973
This club is ran by Mike Cockerham. He is one of the best pole vault
coaches available. I would highly recommend him
if you want to go to the next level in the pole vault.
HEART OF ILLINOIS TITANS TRACK CLUB: Phone: 309-212-5087
This starts the first of June. Coach Anderson will also be assisting
there, so if you need more information,
you may contact him personally at:
randy@anderson-ford.com
or his cell number: 309-838-4125
SPORTS ENHANCEMENT CENTERS: Contact Person: Nate @
309-663-9300
This center is located in Bloomington, IL and we would highly recommend
this one. This is something
that will make you stronger, faster and help with fewer injuries during
the track season. We have seen fantastic
results out of this program. The program runs approx. 8 weeks and the cost
is dependant on how many people sign up.
They do give group discounts. NOTE: This program should start 10-12 weeks
before track season starts to get the most out of it.
In other words, start this sometime in December and end the first week in
February.
Any questions please contact Coach Anderson.

Last
Thing...you can always just start running and weight lifting 6-8 weeks
before the track season starts
which will help you be stronger and build a better foundation.
As always, these are only suggestions. I know your summer can be very
busy. The one thing we want you to know is
not to over-load yourself and try to do too many sports at the same time.
If you have any questions please contact Coach Anderson.
